School is founded by German missionary in the 60ies and now owned by the Lutheran church. This is the first school we supported and where it all started. The school has received much support and is now in a very good shape with a positive attitude among personnel and students.

Small, private day school specifically for children with mental challenges. The school is well equipped with a fish farm, goats and honey production. Some of the older students are actually employed by the school as keepers of animals. This is extremly unusual in a country where people with disabilities usually are considered worthless and unable to do any real work.

Longido Integrated Primary School has 1098 students. Many are children to nomadic Maasais and 501 students live on the boarding school, 24 blind and 7 with physical or mental challenges. They have received latrine buildings, a green house, 100 mattresses, and annually large quantities of necessities for education. After three years of support from us the school was awarded prize for being the second best Primary school in Northern Tanzania.
Their main needs are related to their buildings.

This is the only school of its kind we are supporting. The thinking is that most of the children from the Longido Primary will subsequently become students in Longido Secondary.

Sabasaba Vocarional Rehabilitation Centre in Singida is a vocational school for students with special needs. There they can become professional taylors, carpenters and electricians. We have had the priviledge of working together with them for many years.

This school is in a miserable condition. The buildings have serious cracks, school supplies and Braillers are stored in poor spaces .There are no closed storage areas for Braillers that are sensitive to dust. The toilet in the girls dormatory cannot be used as the septic tank has collapsed. We decided to finance the installation of a new septic tank allowing girls to use their own toilet.

Themi is a day school with 1481 students. Children come in the morning and go back home in the evening. This can be a challenge for the visually impaired as parents cannot afford the transportation from and to the home village. Many more visually impaired children would go to school if low cost or free transportation could be arranged.

Stenroos Education Centre, Mbulu, Dongobesh
In the last 40 years Gottfrid Stenroos from Finland has built 6 schools in Tanzania. This last one is a ”Second chance” school for girls who did not finish school in an earlier attemt, often because of financial reasons.The girls live in dormitories and receive three meals a day. There are now 250 students and the number is increasing.
